Unearthing a Piece of History: Rediscovering the Sharp PC-7000
Recently, while organizing my shed, I stumbled upon an intriguing artifact from the past: my father’s portable computer, the Sharp PC-7000. This vintage device took me by surprise, as I hadn’t expected to find such a significant piece of technology hidden away.
I managed to snap a quick photo of it perched on my lap, as I realized just how unique this discovery was. The computer has been living in the shed to avoid the spiders that seem to thrive in that space, but to my delight, it sprang to life when I plugged it in. Remarkably, we still have some of the floppy disks that were used with it!
The Sharp PC-7000 was undoubtedly a marvel of its era—state-of-the-art technology for its time. I can easily envision my father carrying it to his classes, showcasing what must have been revolutionary portability for a computer in those days.
Rediscovering this piece of my family’s history has not only sparked nostalgia but also provided a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of technology. As I reflect on this experience, I’m reminded of how far we’ve come in terms of portable computing, yet finding this computer serves as a poignant reminder of the past.
