Unearthing a Piece of Technology History: The Sharp PC-7000
While undertaking a much-needed cleanup of my shed, I stumbled upon a remarkable relic from the past: my father’s Sharp PC-7000 portable computer.
This retro gem, which I had forgotten existed, is a fascinating piece of technology that has remained tucked away, possibly due to the spiders that seem to have made it their home. Nevertheless, once I plugged it in, I was pleasantly surprised to see it power up, proving that it still has some life left in it. Not to mention, we still have floppy disks that accompany it—a testament to its vintage charm!
Reflecting on this discovery, it’s astonishing to realize just how cutting-edge the Sharp PC-7000 was during its prime. My father frequently took it to his classes, and you can certainly appreciate the innovation it represented at the time. As I sat there with the computer resting in my lap, I couldn’t help but imagine the countless lectures, assignments, and memories it helped create.
