Troubleshooting Frequent Internet Outages: A Personal Experience

Internet connectivity issues can be incredibly frustrating, especially when they occur during critical moments. Recently, my partner and I found ourselves navigating this challenge after moving in with her family. While we enjoy the new living arrangements, we’ve encountered some peculiar circumstances regarding the household’s internet service.

An Unusual Situation

The home we’re now a part of has a rather complex network setup, crafted by my partner’s stepdad, who prides himself on his tech skills. However, there seems to be a curious pattern: whenever tensions rise in the household, the internet mysteriously goes offline. Each time, he maintains his innocence, assuring us it’s not his doing. Ironically, he often offers me basic troubleshooting tips to restore the connection—like resetting the router and modem.

I’ve diligently followed his advice whenever the internet drops, but my efforts yield no results. Oddly enough, the connection only returns after he intervenes, usually after he makes a call to his internet provider, resulting in the service getting restored with a hint of magic.
