Upon inserting my USB drive into my computer, I noticed that it was unusually slow to load. While waiting, I continued to work on other tasks when suddenly, Windows Defender alerted me to a severe threat associated with drive E—the very USB I had just plugged in. This unexpected notification ignited immediate concern about the safety of my data.
Previously, when using this USB at my school, I had faced a similar issue where all my files transformed into the “.lmk” format. At that time, I managed to recover the files by executing a simple command in the Command Prompt to revert the file attributes. However, this situation felt markedly different. My USB had been in the hands of friends for printing purposes, and while I trust them, I couldn’t shake the feeling that perhaps something had influenced the integrity of my drive.
