Troubleshooting a Mysterious Laptop Issue: LED Keys Are Lit but Screen Remains Black

Have you ever encountered a perplexing issue with your laptop that left you scratching your head? Recently, I purchased a laptop from eBay — yes, I’m aware it comes with its risks — and now I find myself in need of some guidance. The device in question is an Aorus 15P, and I’m hoping to get it back up and running.

The trouble began while I was engaged in a gaming session when suddenly, the laptop crashed. The screen turned black for about five seconds before displaying a blue error message indicating that it had encountered a problem and needed to restart. The restart process seemed normal at first: the fans kicked in, then went silent, only to spin back up momentarily. However, I soon noticed something odd—despite the power button being pressed, the fans would only operate for a short time before stopping again, and the screen remained completely black.

Even stranger, the LED backlighting for the keyboard stayed illuminated, giving the impression that the laptop was on and functioning, yet there was no display to show.

I’ve attempted the usual troubleshooting steps, including holding down the power button to force a shutdown, but all this does is momentarily turn off the LED lights before they flicker back on. Essentially, the device is in a stagnant state; I can’t turn it off or on, and it remains eerily silent with only the keys aglow.

It’s worth noting that prior to this incident, I recently upgraded the operating system from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and installed several new drivers. For a time, everything was functioning smoothly until the crash occurred.

I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced a similar situation and if there are any suggested steps for resolving this issue. Your insights would be greatly appreciated as I navigate this frustrating technical roadblock!
