Is My Computer Repair Technician Trying to Pull a Fast One?

In today’s digital age, our laptops often become essential companions for both work and study. Unfortunately, this reliance on technology means that when something goes wrong, it can deeply disrupt our daily lives. Recently, I encountered an alarming situation with my Lenovo Yoga laptop, and I find myself seeking advice from fellow tech enthusiasts.

The Issue

After experiencing persistent crashes and erratic glitches—manifesting as unsettling black and colored squares on my screen—I attempted some troubleshooting steps on my own. I updated the graphics driver, hoping it would resolve the issue, but to no avail. Ultimately, I decided to consult a local computer repair technician, a solo practitioner with excellent reviews online.

When I met him outside his office, I requested a preliminary assessment of the laptop’s condition, explaining that as a student, I needed to know if the repair costs would be worth it. If the estimate was beyond my budget, I would have no choice but to forfeit the device entirely.

The Concerns Arise

Things took a turn for the bizarre when a few days passed without much communication. I decided to reach out, only to be met with an unsettling response. The technician mentioned he was purchasing a part I had never heard of—one that also appeared to lack any mention in online searches. My concern understandably grew, especially when he reacted with irritation to my inquiries. Since then, nearly a month has gone by without a single response from him, and my laptop has been in his possession since May 25th.

As a student juggling coursework, the lack of communication and clarity about my laptop’s status is not only frustrating but also concerning.

Seeking Guidance
