My Journey to Success: Passing the CompTIA Security+ Certification Exam on My First Attempt
I am thrilled to share that I successfully passed the CompTIA Security+ Certification Exam on my very first attempt! For anyone contemplating this challenge, I want to reassure you: it’s not as daunting as it may seem.
Initially, I had some reservations about my preparedness for the exam. However, the reality proved to be less intimidating than I had anticipated. While it certainly wasn’t a walk in the park, the difficulty level was manageable. A few questions could have been more clearly articulated, but overall, the exam was fair.
One of my biggest fears was regarding the simulation questions. I expected them to be complex tasks that would require me to recall specific commands from memory—but this wasn’t the case at all. Instead, they were more akin to matching questions or using drop-down menus, which made the simulations significantly easier than I had feared.
It was my anxiety over the simulations that led me to delay scheduling the exam, mistakenly thinking that I needed additional practice. In reality, I had psyched myself out more than necessary.
If I could share some valuable tips for those preparing for the exam, it would be to take plenty of practice tests once you’ve completed your studies and ensure that you consistently score well. Don’t hesitate to skip questions that stump you; mark them for review, as another question could provide a hint that jogs your memory. This strategy will allow you to efficiently return to those tricky questions later.
I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the members of this community. The wealth of information, advice, and resources shared here has been invaluable throughout my journey in cybersecurity. Your support made a significant difference!
Wishing everyone the best of luck on their own exam journeys!
Edit: I genuinely appreciate all the love and recognition from this wonderful community. Your encouragement has been instrumental in my success! Thank you!

Congratulations on your impressive achievement! Passing the CompTIA Security+ on your first attempt is a significant milestone, and your detailed experience provides valuable insights for those preparing for the exam.
It’s great to hear that you found the exam questions to be manageable and that the simulations were less intimidating than expected. Many candidates often fear the practical components, but your observation that they were more about matching or using drop-downs aligns with what we’ve seen in exam formats. This emphasizes the importance of familiarizing oneself with the types of questions and practicing applicable skills rather than just memorizing commands.
Regarding your strategy, taking multiple practice tests and marking challenging questions for review is an excellent approach. It helps reinforce knowledge and improves time management, especially under exam conditions. Skipping difficult questions temporarily to maximize the time for easier ones is also a highly recommended tactic.
If anyone is feeling anxious about the exam, remember that thorough preparation and confidence in your study process are key. The community’s shared resources, including practice questions and study guides, can be instrumental in building that confidence.
Thank you for sharing your journey and encouraging words; they can motivate many aspiring cybersecurity professionals. Best wishes for your continued success in your cybersecurity career!
