I’m Nick Percoco, and I have over 25 years of deep-rooted experience in the fields of cybersecurity and technology. Currently, I’m serving as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) at Kraken, a leading global digital asset exchange that prioritizes security in the ever-evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
Before my tenure at Kraken, I served as the CSO at Uptake, an innovator in industrial Artificial Intelligence, and held the position of Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a comprehensive cybersecurity solutions provider. My journey in cybersecurity has led me to share insights on critical topics like security breaches, malware, mobile security, and the latest trends in information security at notable conferences including Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP. Additionally, I’ve contributed to discussions with esteemed organizations such as the Department of Homeland Security, US-CERT, Interpol, and the United States Secret Service.
I discovered my passion for technology early in life, beginning my coding journey at the age of 7 on a Timex Sinclair 1000. This passion continued to flourish as I explored the Chicagoland Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) during the late 80s and early 90s, using a Commodore 64 and later an Intel 386 PC running Linux.
Being a longstanding member of the Chicago hacker community, I also have the pleasure of organizing THOTCON, a hacker conference that will be celebrating its 12th edition in 2023. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to investigate some of the most significant data breaches in history. More recently, I’ve dedicated my efforts at Kraken to developing robust programs designed to safeguard our cryptocurrency platform against various cyber threats.
