Navigating HP Envy Laptop Repairs: Seeking Community Advice

Recently, I took my HP Envy 360x in for some much-needed repairs. The hinge had deteriorated, causing the screen to separate, which was concerning. After researching local repair options, I found a technician with impressive Google reviews who assured me that the laptop was fixable, although it would need a new back cover.

Upon picking up the laptop, the technician explained to my wife that the cords, which were exposed, would eventually “work their way back in.” This casual remark left me feeling unsettled, especially as he later admitted to performing a “rush job.” He cautioned us not to use the laptop as a full tablet due to its design flaws, which only added to my concerns.

I’m reaching out to the community for advice on how to address these issues effectively. Considering I’ll be relocating to a dusty and sandy area soon, the exposed cords could become a significant problem. I can’t shake the worry that these cables might sustain damage, and I believe it’s essential to address this situation before my move.

Additionally, I noticed some unsightly black marks appearing on the inside of the screen after the repair—definitely not what I expected. I plan to raise these concerns with the technician as they will undoubtedly become a source of irritation for me.
