Urgent Help Needed: Troubles with USB and PowerPoint Presentations

Hello readers,

I find myself in a challenging situation and am reaching out for your guidance. Recently, I attempted to use a USB drive to download my PowerPoint presentation, but I encountered an error message that read: “The system cannot find the file specified. Code: 800700002.” Until this point, everything was functioning smoothly. However, following this incident, both my existing presentations and any new ones I’ve created have become corrupted.

This is incredibly frustrating, as I am now unable to open or send these files, even in alternative applications. I’m keen to find a solution to restore access to my old presentations and ensure that my future work remains safe and usable. Additionally, I would like to know how to check for any potential viruses or damage that may have originated from the USB drive.

I have managed to save one presentation by running PowerPoint as an administrator and re-saving it, but this is not a viable long-term fix. If anyone has encountered a similar issue or has advice on how to proceed, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! 🙏

  1. Hi,

I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with your USB drive and PowerPoint files. The error message “The system cannot find the file specified. Code: 800700002” suggests there might be filesystem corruption or a problem with the USB drive itself. Here are some steps you can try to recover your presentations and ensure your system’s safety:

    • Begin by running a disk check on your USB drive:
      • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
      • Type chkdsk /f /r X: (replace X: with your USB drive letter) and press Enter.
    • Attempt to access the USB drive on a different computer or using a different USB port to rule out port or hardware issues.
    • Use data recovery software like Recuva or similar tools to scan your USB for recoverable files.
    • Once you recover your files, perform a Reply
