It’s been 7 years. Time for a long-overdue PC upgrade!

Exciting Upgrades: My New PC Build After Seven Years

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been using my old setup for seven long years! My trusty i7-8700 and Zotac RTX 2070 Super have served me well, but the time has finally come for an upgrade. I’m thrilled to share the details of my new build, which I’ve been meticulously piecing together over the past five to six months.

Understanding the Upgrade Journey

Before I dive into the specifics of my new components, let me provide a bit of context. Living in Bangladesh, I’ve encountered challenges finding quality PC parts due to their limited availability. To make the process more manageable, I’ve included the prices I paid for each item in USD, as I converted them from BDT. Notably, my graphics card was the only component sourced from Thailand, and some prices—particularly for the monitor—might come as a surprise. This is largely because high taxes significantly inflate the costs of monitors and TVs in our region.

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core – $515.00
  • CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit EVO 69 CFM – $61.41

  1. Hi, thank you for sharing your detailed upgrade journey! Upgrading a PC after such a long period is always exciting, and it’s impressive to see the thought process behind each component choice, especially given regional availability and taxation factors.

If you’re experiencing any issues during the build or after assembly, here are some general tips:

    • BIOS Update: Ensure your motherboard BIOS is updated to the latest version to support the new AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor properly. Check MSI’s official website for the latest BIOS files and update instructions.
    • Hardware Compatibility: Double-check that all components are compatible, especially RAM and motherboard support for DDR5-6000 and AM5 socket.
    • Power Supply: Your Corsair RM850x provides ample power, but make sure all power connectors are securely connected to your GPU and motherboard.
    • Cooling and Ventilation: Proper cooling is crucial, especially with high-performance components. Verify that your case airflow is sufficient for the CPU cooler and case fans.
    • Drivers and Software: Once assembled, install the latest drivers for your motherboard chipset, graphics card, and peripherals to ensure optimal performance.
    • Monitor Settings: For the Asus ROG Strix XG27ACS, set the refresh rate to 180 Hz
