Achieving Success: My First Attempt at the CompTIA Security+ Certification

I’m thrilled to share that I successfully passed the CompTIA Security+ Certification Exam on my first try! If you’re feeling apprehensive about your readiness, let me reassure you: it wasn’t as daunting as I had anticipated.

While the exam was certainly challenging, I discovered it was manageable. There were a few questions that could have been phrased more clearly, but overall, the experience was less stressful than I imagined. The simulation questions, which I had dreaded, turned out to be straightforward—much simpler than I expected. Instead of having to recall specific commands from memory, they resembled matching questions or involved using dropdown menus.

My reluctance to take the exam stemmed primarily from my fear of the simulations; I felt I needed more practice before I could attempt them. In reality, I had psyched myself out unnecessarily.

Here are some tips for fellow test-takers: After you’ve completed your study materials, engage in practice exams to gauge your readiness. Focus on consistently passing these practice tests to build your confidence. If you encounter questions that stump you, don’t hesitate to skip them and return later—you may find that another question jogs your memory. Make sure to mark both unanswered questions for later review; this will save you time and help you manage your thought process during the exam.
