Overcoming Exam Anxiety: My Journey to Passing the CompTIA Security+ Certification
I am thrilled to share that I successfully passed the CompTIA Security+ Certification Exam on my very first attempt! If you’re feeling anxious about sitting for this exam, let me assure you, there’s no need for fear.
To those currently preparing, I want to emphasize that the exam wasn’t as daunting as I had anticipated. While it certainly wasn’t a walk in the park, I found that it was manageable. There were only a few questions that I felt could have benefitted from clearer wording, and to my surprise, the simulation questions were much simpler than I originally believed.
If you’re like me, you might be expecting the simulation section to demand a lot from your memory, especially regarding command input. In reality, the simulations felt more akin to straightforward matching questions or using drop-down menus, which made the process far less intimidating.
It was my apprehension about these simulations that led me to delay taking the exam longer than I should have. I convinced myself that I required more practice when, in truth, I was more prepared than I realized. Sometimes, we can be our own worst enemy in this regard.
Here’s my best piece of advice: once you’ve wrapped up your study sessions, take some practice exams. This will help you gauge your readiness and identify areas needing further attention. Additionally, during the exam, if you encounter a question that stumps you right off the bat, don’t dwell on it! Mark it for review and move on; another question might provide the insight you need. Make sure to mark those initial questions for review so you can come back to them later.
