Navigating the Unknown: My Unexpected Journey into Cybersecurity

Taking on new responsibilities in a job can be both exciting and daunting, especially when those tasks stray outside your original role. Recently, I found myself in this very predicament when I started a new position. During my interview, the conversation touched on the idea of assisting with computer-related tasks, but I was unaware that I would soon be tasked with managing the company’s cybersecurity.

To complicate matters, I discovered that the organization has virtually no established security protocols. It seems that I have stepped into a role that nobody previously occupied, leaving me to figure out how to protect sensitive information and ensure that our digital assets are secure.
