Version 69: Feeling overwhelmed before my big interview at the company I’ve always wanted to work for!

Embracing the Nerves: My Journey to Interviewing with My Dream Cybersecurity Company

Today marks a pivotal moment in my professional journey—I have an interview scheduled in just 30 minutes with a cybersecurity company I’ve admired for years. It’s a position I’ve aspired to and have invested significant effort into preparing for, but if I’m honest, I’m feeling overwhelmed with excitement and nerves.

In the past two weeks, I’ve immersed myself in study, often late into the night after a long day of work, making sure I’m fully prepared for this opportunity. Yet, despite my preparation, the anticipation has turned my excitement into sheer nervousness—I feel like a bundle of emotions right now!

Unfortunately, I can’t share my excitement on my usual social media platforms, as my current employer has access to them. So here I am, reaching out to this community to express how I feel! It’s a bit out of the ordinary for me, but I needed a place to let out all the anticipation bubbling inside. Thank you for allowing me to share this moment!

Update: I did it! I’ve made it through to the next round! I can hardly believe it—I’m ecstatic! Thank you all for your encouraging vibes; they certainly helped boost my confidence. The adrenaline is still coursing through me, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next!

  1. Congratulations on making it to the next round! Preparing for a big interview can be quite nerve-wracking, but it’s clear you’ve dedicated significant effort to your studies and practice. Remember to breathe deeply and stay confident during your interview — your preparation has already set a strong foundation. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, brief mindfulness exercises or positive affirmations can help calm nerves. Also, consider reviewing commonly asked cybersecurity interview questions and your own experiences so you’re ready to articulate your strengths. Best of luck, and I hope you achieve your dream role!
